Ingredients:
- 1 whole chicken, approx 4 lb
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Instructions:
- Pat the chicken completely dry with paper towels to ensure the skin crisps rather than steams.
- Rub olive oil evenly over the entire bird, including the cavity.
- Combine the kosher salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cracked black pepper, and cayenne pepper to create the seasoning rub.
- Coat the chicken thoroughly with the seasoning rub.
- Place the bird breast-side down in the air fryer basket.
- Cook at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
- Flip the chicken to breast-side up and increase the heat to 380°F (193°C) for another 20-25 minutes.
- Use an instant-read meat thermometer to ensure the thickest part of the breast reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Transfer the chicken to a carving board and allow it to rest undisturbed for 15 minutes before slicing.
