Instructions:

- In a large glass or stainless steel mixing bowl, combine the sliced berries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt.

- Allow the mixture to sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes until the sugar has completely dissolved and a glossy, translucent red syrup has formed.
