Ingredients:
- 1 large ripe avocado (approx. 200g)
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp chaat masala
- 1/4 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 2 tbsp finely chopped red onion
- 2 tbsp finely chopped tomato (deseeded)
- 1 small green chili, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 4 slices thick-cut sourdough or whole-grain bread
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
Instructions:
- In a small mixing bowl, scoop out the avocado flesh and mash with a fork until it reaches a velvety consistency with a few small chunks. Stir in the lemon juice immediately to prevent oxidation.
- Fold in the chopped red onion, tomato, green chili, and cilantro. Sprinkle in the chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, salt, and black pepper, stirring until evenly distributed.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat with butter or use a toaster to toast the bread slices until mahogany-colored and crisp.
- While the toast is still hot, spread a generous amount of the spiced avocado mixture onto each slice.
- Finish with a light drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and optional pomegranate seeds or red chili flakes.
