Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Instructions:

  1. Wash the strawberries thoroughly and pat them dry. Remove the green hulls and slice each berry into even quarters or thin slices.
  2. Place the sliced strawberries into a large mixing bowl and sprinkle the granulated sugar evenly over the top.
  3. Using a rubber spatula or large spoon, gently fold the berries to ensure every slice is coated in sugar without bruising the fruit.
  4. Cover the bowl and let the berries sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours for a thicker syrup.
