Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (14.5 oz / 411g each) canned green beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves (15g) garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5g) red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp (12g) brown sugar, packed

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the drained canned green beans under cold water to remove excess sodium and the canned liquid taste. Pat them dry with a paper towel to ensure they sear rather than steam.
  2. Place a skillet over medium-high heat and add the butter. Once bubbling, stir in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes; sauté for 30–60 seconds until fragrant and pale golden.
  3. Add the dried green beans to the skillet and stir to coat in the garlic butter.
  4. Pour the soy sauce and brown sugar over the beans. Stir continuously for 3–5 minutes until the sauce reduces and thickens into a glossy, mahogany-colored glaze.
  5. Remove from heat immediately once the sauce is velvety and coats the beans evenly.
